About U6

Roooooad trip! For the sixth NEMO University conference (i.e. NEMO U6), the NEMO Network is leaving the cozy (some would say cramped) confines of the East Coast for the laid-back, luminous landscape of the legendary West Coast. U6 will be held on the Monterey Peninsula at the rustically groovy Asilomar State Beach Conference Center in Pacific Grove, CA, just an abalone shell’s throw away from the City of Monterey. This will be first NEMO U west of the Mississippi (actually, west of Charleston, SC)!

For the uninitiated, NEMO U is the biannual-ish conference of the National NEMO Network, a confederation of outreach programs across the country that work with local land use decision makers to balance growth and natural resource protection. As those who have attended will tell you, it is nacho ordinary conference. And, it’s not for everyone—literally. NEMO U is intended for Network members, members-in-waiting, and our many Network partners at the local, state and federal levels. The conference is an opportunity for NEMOids everywhere to come together for networking, training, planning and sharing. Perhaps most important, NEMO U is the chief nurturing ground of our Network espirit de corps, famous far and wide (among the cognoscenti).

So tune up the old Studebaker, wax your board, dust off your copy of Steinbeck’s Cannery Row, and prepare to get your kicks at NEMO U6!
