workshops using GIS customized to the community. Three tiers
of outreach: 1) Community-based workshops, usually for three
or four towns sharing a common watershed or aquifer; 2) GIS-based
watershed risk assessment to identify and evaluate pollution
risks using the MANAGE method; and 3) follow-up technical assistance
in implementing management practices is tied to other URI Cooperative
Extension Water Quality Programs such as URI On-site Wastewater
Training Center, RI Home*A*Syst, and URI Watershed Watch. Annual
basic training for board and commission members is planned.
