Coordinating the Network

The National NEMO Network is coordinated by the Network “Hub” at the University of Connecticut (UConn) Cooperative Extension service. The Hub consists of two full-time, a Network Coordinator and a Network Communicator, with regular contributions and support from the CT NEMO Team.

The Hub serves four general purposes:

1. act as a resource for states looking to start a NEMO program,
2. facilitate communication and resource sharing between NEMO programs,
3. provide training and other opportunities for programs to expand and enhance their educational arsenal, and
4. demonstrate the cumulative impacts and progress of the Network. 

To date, the Hub has conducted over 100 workshops and scoping sessions, facilitating the creation of NEMO programs in 31 states and underwriting a steady growth in the size and effectiveness of the Network. The Hub provides developing programs with a NEMO Starter Kit that contains all the materials necessary to get a NEMO program up and running, including PowerPoint™ presentations, publications, photo galleries and tips for setting up a program. As the Network continues to grow and mature, the Hub has moved from the start up phase to the development phase, and has shifted emphasis to help existing programs develop new educational modules and strengthen their technical base. The Hub will continue to respond to the needs of Network programs, helping them hone and expand their services to local land use decision makers.
