Network PartnersWho Funds the Network? The National NEMO Network is one of six National Facilitation Projects of the USDA/CSREES Water Quality Program. This provides funding to the National Network Hub, based at the University of Connecticut, to facilitate communication and networking between programs. (Learn More) We also coordinate with, and report through, our New England Regional Water Quality Program, which encompasses a wide array of projects in the six-state region. The Hub also receives funding from the US EPA Office of Water/Nonpoint Source Control. Intersecting NetworksThe National NEMO Network would not exist without the help of its many federal agency, educational, and nonprofit partners. The Network brings together three nationwide networks, the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES), the NOAA National Sea Grant College Program and the NASA Space Grant Geospatial Extension Specialists. The intersection of these three networks provides the programs in the network with a broad base of knowledge, research and expertise to pull from. Who Advises the Network? The Network is advised by the National NEMO Network Interagency Work Group, an ad hoc group of representatives from federal agencies and national organizations that are involved with or invested in NEMO projects. The Work Group first met in 1997 and has been an integral part of the formation and direction of the Network. It has focused on promoting interagency collaboration in support of the Network and specific mechanisms to fortify both the Connecticut “Hub” and Network Projects across the country. The Work Group includes officials from USDA, EPA, NASA, the American Planning Association, US Conference of Mayors, National Association of Counties and National Association of Development Organizations.
